Detailed Description
This 2 hour tour begins at the entrance to the Catacombs, underground below the city streets of Paris where your guide takes you 20 meters below to the hidden city of souls. You will have a skip the line entry privileges and VIP Access to the history behind the millions of bones that populate the tunnel.
A sign which reads “Arrete, C'est Ici L'Empire De La Mort" (Stop. Here is the Empire of Death) welcomes you to the city of souls, and you will immediately be surrounded by bones and skulls that lead you to the special access area where you will see the history of 18th and 19th century French royals.
You will learn how the Catacombs became the answer to the problem created by overcrowded cemeteries above, because of the 6 million people remains and how they were carried underground during the 18th century. At the end of the tour your guide will leave you at the entrance of the Catacombs.

Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts on time. You will not be able to catch up to the tour if late

How much walk is there?
There is approximately 1 mile of walking. Also, there are approximately 130 steps down and 85 steps back up to street level. This tour is not recommended for people who have mobility issues or anxiety in closed spaces. Please note that the temperatures in the Catacombs are 14 degrees centigrade.
