Detailed Description
This tour to Monkey Island (Isla de los Monos) and the Emberá Katuma Community starts from Panama City. You will be picked up at your hotel or residence in Panama City between 9:00 and 9:30 in the morning to take you to the Gamboa public pier.
At the pier, your guide will be waiting for you to board the boat that will take you to the Monkey Island. At the Monkey Island the boat will stop and the monkeys will come from the trees to the boat, so you can feed them and take pictures with them. You will be with the monkeys approximately for 15 minutes.
After spending time with the monkeys, your guide will take you to the Emberá Katuma community. When you arrive at the community, the locals will welcome you with traditional music and dances. Then, they will give you a little talk about their history and you will do a walking tour to get to know the community. There are handmade crafts by locals available for purchase, if you wish you can buy.
Before finishing the tour, you will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch (included in the tour price), it is usually fish with patacones (fried green plantains) or rice with coconut and a bottle of water or orange juice.
The tour ends with your return by car to your hotel or residence in Panama City at 1:00 pm and you will arrive at your hotel or residence approximately 2:00 pm.
