On your day trip from Vienna, you will catch the train to Krems and then start your bike ride on flat paths, surrounded by terraced vineyards. After lunch, you will spend the afternoon learning about Austria’s wine and history while meeting new friends. Along the way you will visit charming Austrian villages before arriving back in Krems and returning to Vienna by train at the end of your 10 hour tour. The tour begins and ends in the Vienna Explorer Office.

Detailed Description

The Wachau Valley is Austria’s most famous wine region along the Danube River and it is just an hour away from Vienna. You will meet at the Vienna Explorer Office and then at 9:30 AM you will catch the train to Krems to start your bike ride on flat paths surrounded by terraced vineyards.

You will visit the picture-perfect town of Dürnstein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then you will climb the ancient medieval ruins of Dürnstein Castle, see the former prison of King Richard the Lionheart and bike along the most beautiful stretch of the Danube River. After lunch, you will spend the afternoon having wine tastings in traditional and local family-owned taverns.

You will go back to Krems and return to the Vienna Explorer Office by train at 7:00 PM. It’s a day you will remember long after your travels end.
