Detailed Description

During this 5 hour tour you will travel in a minibus to visit different wineries on the beach. The meeting point with your guide will be in our offices at 11:30 AM. Together with your guide you will visit the winery of the historic Kumeu River Wines operated by the Brajkovich family. Pioneers in wine making in New Zealand since 1944 specialize in the production of Estate Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, Merlot and Pinot Noir only from grapes grown in their own Kumeu and Huapai vineyards that are around 10. The barrel Fermented Mate Chardonnay is considered one of the best wines in the country. After earning his degree in Oenological Sciences in Australia, the winemaker Michael Brajkovich MW became New Zealand's first wine master and has been the chief judge of the Air New Zealand wine competition.

Then you will taste the wines on the family property of Soljans Estate and have an open lunch menu with a glass of wine from the extensive menu at "Soljans Vineyard Cafe". You can try the wide variety of native honeys such as Rewarewa, Alpine Blue Borage and Pohutakawa. Then try some Manuka UMF 10 honey. This special honey is made from the New Zealand native Tea Tree (Sperma Scoparium) and contains the powerful Methyglyoxal antibiotic. This honey in particular is exclusive to New Zealand and has more than 20 years of university research on this extraordinary phenomenon.

After lunch, you will relax with a walk through the beautiful sheep and cattle fields to visit the black sand beach of Muriwai. You will see the west coast and the regional park in the encounter with the Tasman Sea. You will also see the green hills and the impressive farmland. You can see Gannets nesting and flying over rocky outcroppings and black sand beaches. (The Gannets are migratory birds and the colony, they do not have birds between May and August).

In the afternoon, you will visit West Brook Wines for a generous selection of varietals and mixes at the winery's store. West Brook Wines is a family-owned wine company established in 1935 in New Zealand that produces excellent Chardonnay Estate, Waimauku Estate and Marlborough award winning Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Rose, Pinot Noir and Malbec. The winemaker James Rowan is a winemaker and winner of several awards.

After having enjoyed this interesting wine tour and having visited the black sand beach, we will return to the offices, the same place where you started.
