Detailed Description

Enjoy a tour of Stewart Island, departing from the Stewart Island visitor terminal, Main Pier. Travel on a modern cruise, on a catamaran through the beautiful Paterson inlet and discover hidden coves and pristine beaches.

Along the way, you will learn about the early history of Maori and European settlements, including whaling. Your guide will share detailed information throughout the cruise and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have. While on board the cruise, you will have the opportunity to see seals, penguins and other wild animals, since sightings are very common.

Then you will arrive at the island of Ulva where you will disembark. There is the famous wildlife sanctuary, where you will enjoy a 45 minute guided tour with a specialized guide. You can admire rare plants and rich birds, including the curious weka, which are often seen on the beach.

After the walk, you will return to the cruise to enjoy the coastal landscape before returning to the main pier where you started the tour.
