Detailed Description

This guided tour lasts 3 hours in which we will try to fall in love with the old town of Edinburgh and its main route, you will discover the secrets that the tourists at first sight cannot see.

You will explore the Royal Mile, the most emblematic street of Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, and the main artery of the Old City. It has witnessed both the hardest moments in the history of Edinburgh and its rebirth to become what it is today. You will have an interesting walking tour, full of curiosities, stories and anecdotes about this iconic road.

Your guide will answer question like Who were the cadies? Where did Queen Mary Stuart take her baths? What is the most important object in Scotland and where can it be visited? What is the house that speaks? Why is there a cobblestone heart in the middle of this street? What does the Royal Mile have to do with the hunting and burning of witches?

Also, you will learn how the inhabitants of Edinburgh lived, especially during the Middle Ages, where the confines of the city reached, and you will even cross the end of the world.

You will cross this street from one end to another and learn magnificent details about ancient buildings and their residents; from the pride of Scotland (Edinburgh Castle) to the Renaissance Palace of Holyrood, including the beautiful Edinburgh Cathedral and the controversial building of the Scottish Parliament, symbol of the modern architecture of the country.

In addition, you will visit some of the historic "closes" (or alleys) that make the Royal Mile a unique place in the world. The tour will begin and end outside the Palace of Holyrood.
