Panama City Tour Including The Canal Locks (Miraflores) And Shopping

This private tour starts by picking you up at the hotel by one of our tour guides and then you will be taken to visit the Miraflores Locks Visitors centre (entrance is not included in the tour price). The Miraflores Locks are one of the three sets of The Canal Locks, and is the closest to Panama City. We will be for approximately 1 hour and you will be able to observe the magnitude of this marvel of engineering, which operates the same hydraulic system since its creation, a local guide of the locks will narrate the operation of the ships that transit through the Panama Canal. There will be a short audio-visual presentation of 10 minutes, you can visit the 4 floors of exhibitions and the gift shop in the visitor centre. Our guide will be at your disposal in case you need to know more.

The next stop of the tours will be the Biomuseo designed by Frank Gehry and the viewpoint where you can take wonderful photos of Panama City for about 10 minutes.

Then, you will cross the Amador Causeway to Isla Flamenco, where we will find restrooms, a giant sign of Panama to take more photos and eat some refreshments, if you wish. You can also take a moment to make some purchases in the duty free if you wish.

Then we will move to the Colonial City, and we will walk for 1 hour inside the Old Town, the guide will explain that it was built after Panama La Vieja was sacked and burned. The predominant architectural style of the Casco Antiguo is a combination of Italian, French and Spanish colonial. This part of the City is home to the famous Golden Altar that survived the looting and destruction of the pirate Morgan. We will visit: churches and a Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, National Grand Theater, Las Bóvedas, and Plaza de Francia with the history written on the Panama Canal mural. You will be able to see the Plaza de la Independencia, and beautiful old houses including the Canal Interoceanic Museum. You will have 20 minutes to explore on your own, take pictures and buy some crafts.

The next and last stop of the tour is one of the largest shopping centers in Latin America, Albrook mall, which has more than 700 prestigious national and international stores. You will have approximately 5 hours to tour the mall on your own, eat and shop. Before getting off the bus, the guide will give you the instructions of the meeting point, the pick-up time and will give you a map of the shopping center. The pick-up time is at 6:00pm for the driver to take you back to your hotel.
