Detailed Description

The tour begins by meeting your guide at the Village of La Jolla, on this 4.5 hour walking tours you will start by trekking on the outskirts of the cove, listen to your guide explain the vast history of the Spanish settlers and how even La Jolla has military roots dating back to the early 1900s.

As your tour guide tells the history behind the Scripps family, see firsthand where Ellen Browning Scripps once lived in the present-day Museum of Contemporary Art. Your tour guide will also share how Theodor Geisele (more famously known as Dr. Seuss) made La Jolla his home, why the native Indians first called La Jolla “the hole in the mountain,” and how an acre in La Jolla once cost $1.25 USD.

Today, La Jolla remains one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the nation and is one of the most popular attractions in San Diego. We’re sure you’re more than hungry by now and we hope your taste buds are just as excited to chomp on bites of all cuisine.

From Hawaiian-inspired treats, to apple pancakes, fish tacos with a sea view, Kobe beef sliders, organic superfoods & smoothies, and the largest tasting selection of CA made olive oil & balsamic vinegar. At the end you can explore by yourself this amazing place.

La Jolla Walking Tour includes:

- Route with 5 or more restaurant stops.

- Dress as you would for a lunch or picnic, keeping in mind you’ll be casually strolling for about 2 miles total.
- Our La Jolla Walking Tour is for Ages 16+. Most of our tours are 21 and up, and our tours are promoted as an adult-only activity.

Sadly, all our tours tickets are final. Many folks book far in advance and your spot is precious! Therefore, no, we’re sorry to say that we don’t do refunds either.

  1. May I bring my dog on the tour?

Oh, we love dogs, but sadly, the Health Department does not. Please leave your pooch at home. Please note, Bite San Diego is ADA complaint with service animals & emotional support animal regulations.

  2. What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Well, our tours are probably not for you. All our restaurants are partners of ours and we cannot ask them to modify samples, which are usually showcases of their best dishes. We’re sorry.

  3. Does this tour have anything to offer a native or local San Diegan?

Of course! Many of our guests live in San Diego. Locals often go on our tours to learn about the neighborhoods and the city in which they live. Besides, we don’t look like a tourist group, and we give you access to restaurants and info we’re sure you’ve never experienced or known before.

  4. Are any of your walking tours wheelchair and/or stroller accessible?

This is California, where everywhere is a place you can wheel along! (Or else you’d be sued.) So yes, bring your wheels if you normally do and ride along with us. All the surfaces we walk on are flat.
