Detailed Description

On this 3 hour bike tour meet your guide at the French Quarter, begin with a ride to the banks of the Mississippi River learning how it shaped our landscape and where the first Europeans landed and founded our city. Then weave your way through the original 1718 New Orleans visiting the oldest and most historical landmarks, telling the tale of the city's early beginnings.

Also travel to Faubourg Marigny, viewing original Creole homes while you learn of the famed division between the Americans and Creoles of this time. Your guide will show you an almost hidden street where some of the best live Jazz music can be found.

With a rich understanding of the city's early history, venture onward to explore the “American” side of New Orleans where you will learn about Southern American life pre and post-Civil War. As you roll through the Garden District you’ll discover the remarkable stories behind the Americans of the 19th century who built large, opulent mansions that have captivated visitors for nearly two centuries. The Garden District has been featured in countless movie and film projects and has attracted many celebrities to live in the area.

By the end you will stroll through the oldest city-owned ground cemetery to learn about the unique way we inter our loved ones. End passing through the Irish Channel learning how New Orleans immigration and foreign contributions made this lavish lifestyle possible. Finally return your bike and start exploring by yourself.

  1. Are children welcome on your tours? Are there age restrictions?

Kids are welcome on tour! Bike Riders ages 12 to 18 are welcome if accompanied by a legal guardian and meet height requirements to safely ride our bikes. We can accommodate younger riders on our private tours. For the safety of all guests we ask that all participants be confident and experienced bike riders, no matter the age.

  2. Are there any regulations regarding drinking alcohol and riding a bike?

In fact, there are. In the eyes of Louisiana law, drinking alcohol and operating a bicycle is the same as that of an automobile. Our tours are all about fun and learning, but most importantly they're safe. We ride in protected bike lanes and city streets, next to traffic. We ask that you respect the safety of your fellow bikers, tour guide, and everyone else on the road by not riding under the influence.

  3. What if rain is forecasted? Are tours cancelled due to rain?

Weather in New Orleans can be unpredictable. Because of this we run our tours rain or shine. Buzz Nola provides complimentary ponchos, and we recommend dressing for the weather as much as possible. If your tour is cancelled due to inclement weather, we will reach out as soon as possible to get your tour rescheduled. If we cannot accommodate a new tour date on your trip your payment will be refunded.
