Detailed Description
In this 2.5 hour walking tour you will discover the Santa Croce neighbourhood beginning with the church that gives the neighbourhood (quartiere) its name. The huge Franciscan church dedicated to the holy cross is not only where the tombs of Galileo and Michelangelo are located but is also home to masterpieces by Giotto and Brunelleschi, to name a few big guns.
Then, you will walk through one of the favourite neighbourhoods in the city, where the ancient Romans had their entertainment, the merchant families of the renaissance built their palaces and the Florentines play their historical soccer. We finish with an aperitivo at a local wine bar for degustation before going back to Piazza Santa Croce.
